COMMUNITY OUTREACH & ADVOCACY

Another cause taken up by TIES is advocacy through various workshops and inclusion events
by collaborating with other organizations and with the Govt. Our children attend various
programmes in the year like the Serendipity Festival in Panjim, the Peoples Carnival, Heritage
market in Pilerne, NOMOZO at Porvorim. It was indeed a revelation that we surely have come a
long way in our socialisation skills in public places.

PURPLE FEST

TIES curated the Purple Kaleidoscope section at the Purple Fest 2023, a National Level Festival
organized for Persons with Disabilities in Goa . This comprised of the Art Gallery with Exhibition
cum sale of paintings, art work & products of art done by people with various disabilities with live
Artists in action, The Art Garden with Community Art activities , The Art Pavilion with Art
workshops & The Art Installation

SENSITIZING GENERAL PUBLIC

TIES conducts sensitisation sessions on Intellectual
Disabilities at various public places like Museum of Goa, Father Agnel Central School, etc.
Parents of TIES actively participate in panel discussions & seminars on various platforms
relating to topics on Intellectual Disabilities.

RESIDENTIAL PILOT PROJECT

In February 2022, TIES undertook the pilot project to facilitate regular group interactions with
parents and their children for a period of 6 months with facilitator- Sasha Braganza, in Stage
one. The next stage (May- July 2022) had two hour structured sessions that were held twice a
month at Divya Sadan, under the DOSTI programme. Various online meetings were organized
so that parents would be familiar with models, methods, challenges & all aspects of running
residential centers. The core committee did a detailed study of six organizations and their
models along the components were presented in the form of a matrix to the parents. A draft of
Project Plan framework was prepared & an online poll was conducted for the parents regarding
various aspects of the residential centre & the results were shared with the group.

TIES RESPITE CARE CENTRE, MOIRA, GOA

TIES started its first Respite Centre for people with Intellectual Disabilities with severe needs in
June 2023 at Moira,Goa (at its rented premises which is its official address). This respite
functioned under TIES until May 2024. TIES plans to run it as a family centre in future.

TIES TALKS

TIES organised a programme called TIES TALKS in 2024 where parents shared their journey
and stories. TIES plans to continue this series of talks.
